A 90-day engagement that builds your next twelve months of marketing strategy, run by your own team.

The 12-Month Plan

Ninety days of focused work. Twelve months of marketing strategy. A team trained to run it. I set direction and make sure what your people build holds together, then I hand it over.

What the problem actually costs

Marketing spend you can't connect to revenue. Staff time lost to rebuilding the plan every quarter. A team that asks "what should we do" and gets a guess. Growth that depends on you having a good idea that week. Leadership meetings where marketing is the line item everyone moves past. And the quiet sense that a business this capable should have figured this out by now.

Who this is for

You run an established business or organization. The revenue is real and it's steady. You have staff, customers who come back, and money already going into marketing. Someone is handling it: a coordinator, a contractor, a board member with a good eye. Nobody is setting direction.

So every campaign starts from scratch, your website and your emails sound like two different companies, and you approve plans you don't fully believe in because there's no one to ask.

You've priced a full-time marketing director and decided against it. You've hired an agency and ended up with deliverables nobody on staff could carry forward. What you want is a plan your people understand and the confidence to run it all year.

Why Me

  • Founder of Toombs Creative since 2019, building strategy for clients in 30+ industries that their in-house teams then carry out
  • Eight years inside mid-sized nonprofit theaters, marketing more than 300 events a year
  • More than $7 million raised through major gifts, sponsorships, and grants, including the major gifts phase of a $2.3 million capital campaign
  • MBA in Sustainable Innovation, University of Victoria
  • Founder of Marketing Mapped Out, software that runs a marketing department's planning sequence for small business owners
  • Speaker, Social Pacific 2026, Vancouver

The depth means I know how your money moves, how your leadership thinks, and what your staff can realistically carry. The breadth means I've seen what works in businesses that look nothing like yours, and I can tell you which parts apply.

How the 90 days are phased

01

Extraction.

Before anything gets planned, I learn how your business actually works. I sit down with you, your marketing lead, and the people closest to your customers: your team, your leadership, and a few customers or clients. We put past campaigns and the numbers on the table. You leave this phase with a findings brief: a plain-language picture of where your marketing stands, who you're talking to, and what's in the way.

02

Development.

We build the strategy, then the plan. Customer, positioning, and message come first, because every decision after that depends on them. Then the year itself: one focus for the year, broken into quarters, with monthly priorities and a weekly and daily rhythm for email and social. Campaigns land on a calendar built around your fiscal year, your seasons, and what your team can realistically carry. You leave this phase with your 12-month marketing strategy and plan, reviewed with leadership and approved before anyone starts running it.

03

Team training and handoff.

Your team learns to run the plan while I'm still in the room. Working trainings on the email program, the content rhythm, the campaign calendar, and the measures that tell you whether it's working. We set up AI workflows your staff will keep using for research, drafting, and reporting. Then your team runs the first weeks of the plan while I review and redirect.

We finish with a handoff session where your team walks me through the system. You leave with a trained team, an operating document that records every decision and why it was made, and a plan already in motion.

Ninety days in. Twelve months planned. A team that can run it.

What I Don't Do

I don't write your campaigns, design your assets, post for you, or manage your ads. If that's what you need, hire an agency, and I'll help you brief them well.

The goal is a team that runs its own marketing, without an agency on retainer.

What You Walk Away With

A 12-month marketing strategy your team helped build. A calendar for the year: quarterly focus, monthly priorities, weekly email, daily social. Clear audiences and messaging everyone writes from. AI workflows your staff use every week.

An operating document, so the next hire or board member can pick it up. And a marketing lead who has spent 90 days making decisions alongside a strategist and is ready to make them alone.

Is this a fit?

This works best when

  • You're past the startup stage, with steady revenue and customers who already buy from you.
  • You have a team, and at least one person on staff who can own marketing after handoff.
  • You're already investing in marketing and want to know what it's earning.
  • You're planning for growth, not survival, and want the year mapped before it starts.
  • Leadership is ready to make decisions and stand behind the plan.

Still building the foundation, or running the business mostly on your own? Marketing Mapped Out walks you through the same process at your own pace.

Investment and availability

I take a small number of these at a time.

Investment is shared on our first call, once we've both confirmed it's a fit. It's a fraction of what a full-time marketing director costs in a year, and you keep the plan and the trained team.

Want the plan in hand for the new year? The engagement needs to start this fall.

Questions companies usually ask

Why 90 days for a 12-month plan?

One phase to understand your business, one to build the plan, one to put it in your team's hands. Twelve months of strategy takes ninety days of focused work, not a year of meetings.

What happens after the 90 days?

Your team runs the plan. A monthly advisor retainer is available if you want a strategist on call. Never required.

Our marketing person is part-time. Is that enough?

Usually, yes. Someone on staff needs to own the plan after handoff. We'll confirm that on the call.

Can our leadership team or board take part?

Yes. I'll ask the owner or executive director to join the extraction phase and the plan approval. Direction gets set at that level.

Do you work with nonprofits too?

Yes. The buyer is any established business or organization without a strategist on staff. The process is the same.

A short form first, then we find a time. If it isn't a fit, I'll tell you.

Let's put a strategist
in your corner.
